Longines 6942 stem loose

Although I can wind this watch up to run, when I pull the Crown it's very loose and does not engage the hands. Also it will come out completely if pulled.

It looks to me like there's something missing or broken (arrowed).

Looks like the setting lever screw is broken. Judging by the dirt I think I see, the movement needs a good cleaning and service anyway.

I think it's just a dimple so push release.

I expect the screw or spring on the dial side are where the fault is.

I expect this is the part that's broken or loose.

Dial needs removing to get to the keyless for inspection.

Worn or broken setting lever, or just springs  weak press on set lever.

Thank you for the replies. I don't yet have the confidence to attempt further investigation at this stage in my watch repair career, but I will know what to look for once I've practiced on some scrappers.

It's a simple enough place to start as the stem is already loose you can just remove the movement from the case.

Then it's just a case of removing the hands and dial to inspect the keyless works.

Make sure you protect the dial with a sheet of plastic while trying to remove the hands.

Yes, I watched some videos of this and wondered what to use. Cling film will be too thin.

Just cut open a ziploc bag, I use these loads.
