@LittleWatchShop why the sad face?  Manufacturers can still use these materials in their products. It isn't a ban or restriction on the material itself. They just need to be able to trace the raw material back through the supply chain to an approved farm or plantation.

I have a healthy mistrust of the administrative state.  There was a case in USA where the Lacy act was used as lawfare against Gibson Guitar company because they held the incorrect political views.

Living here in Indiana - USA - I can confirm the United States is a legal and political minefield at present.  With a dumpster fire in the middle of it.  And that is all I feel safe saying.

Metals for aerospace and defense products have had traceability requirements forever. It's a bit of a hassle to make sure that certificates of origin accompany the material through manufacturing and end up with the final product. Additional administrative expense, but not as burdensome as some others. (I look at you, taxman!)
