So I bought my grail watch recently and because I like to preserve the bracelets, I decided to change it for a strapcode item.

It originally had quick release spring bars which I removed because I prefer using the originals.

The watch it was fitted to preciously had drilled lugs but this one doesn't but I didn't think it through before fitting it

So I've snookered myself because there's no way of removing it

See photo

In the short term it's not an issue but in the future it may need to be removed

Any ideas greatly appreciated

I see 2 option, both of which are fraught with danger.

Get a very thin blade and cut through the bar where it meets the lug.

Drill out the bar in the slot to get to the spring and be able to retract it.

So, what was your solution Andy?

Tom

Well not my solution

I found a little watch and jewellery shop that advertised watch repairs available.

So I went in and thought maybe I can get some advice

The old chap took it into his workshop area which I could see from the counter.

I saw him turn on his desk lamp and put his magnifying headset on and pick out a tool but that's all.

30 seconds later he came back with the end links removed without a mark on the watch or links.

Even the spring bars were undamaged.

It was like magic 😳

I don't know what he did but he didn't even charge me.

I gave a donation to my favourite charity, cancer research, of £20 and e-mailed him to let him know..

He replied to say "anytime"
