Hello!

My name is Manny and I've been playing with watches since I was 5.  So, 52 years?

I'm no watchmaker, just a hobbyist.  I'm the guy that changed all the batteries in my family's watches.  So I've only practiced opening case backs and I have a bunch of rudimentary tweezers and cheap Chinese tools from Amazon.  As I'm moving to Europe, my hobbies need to get smaller.  So old Lincolns and Plymouths are done, and even my Star Wars dioramas are too bulky to keep working on.... MEAD MAKING? no more room for that even.

So I recently bought a bunch of broken digital and quartz analog watches to repair and I've realized I like this hobby more than all the other's combined.  I'm starting slow, modding and restoring old Casio G-Shocks, which I find very fulfilling and soon I will attempt to service a pocket watch.  I'm told by every youtuber that it's a good place to start.  Eventually I want to be confident enough to dig into my own vintage Longines and give it a good servicing.  Probably not for a couple-three years though.

Oh! Why is everyone mad?  I posted in a thread about oil-filling a watch.  Everyone is mad about it.  🙂

Hi, welcome Manny.

I don't think everyone is mad at you. I don't even think anyone is mad at you. Most of us are past the age where we get riled up easily. Might be a hormonal thing. 🤣

Differing opinions do happen occasionally but we just agree to disagree.

I think WRT is one of the friendliest watch forums around. I keep reading about "the other forum" where newbies are not welcomed. But honestly, I don't know which forum they are referring to. ( It's not us. )

So go ahead and post about anything. Except sensitive things like politics, religion, etc. You know what I mean, right?

Keep calm and keep wrecking watches!

Hello MannyE welcome to the forum .  I think this very subject was discussed on the forum a couple of years back. Like the guys say no one is mad at you , you have your opinion and that’s good. We might not always agree with each other on the site but it’s kept polite, welcome

    • I have no experience with this watch, but looking at the pictures from the ebay listing linked above, it looks like the outer metal bezel at the back of the watch may not be part of the case proper.  It looks like the watch and strap are sandwiched together, and an inner case may push out of the rear bezel towards the front of the watch.  A case style similar to the Roamer watches where the crystal, movement and caseback pushed out through the back of an outer bezel, only in reverse - this one may push out towards the front.  To test this, you would need to hold the watch, dial down, supporting the dial side of the watch around the edge of the bezel without touching the bezel itself. Then push down carefully on the inner metal ring you can see at the back of the watch. I’m speculating here, proceed at your own risk. Hopefully someone with hands on experience of these watches can chime in! Best Regards, Mark
    • Thanks, Mark. That's the kind of reassurance many of us wanted to hear! Yes, life is unfortunately unpredictable, and it would be a shame if the many dedicated WRT: ers became stranded if, god forbid, something happened to you and WRT stopped working.
    • The case back is perfectly aligned to the case and has no provisions for a screwing tool. The T-Sport series has snap on backs.
    • For me the text looks too aligned and with no obvious way to grip as a screw back.
    • There’s no indents & there’s no little groove to pry it off anywhere! So I don’t know if it’s screw down or pry off 👍
