Hello, first time poster here. I have been tinkering for a few months and decided I would take on a 6139 now as there is plenty of help on YouTube about the movement. I bought this one eBay for quite cheap. It was advertised as a 6139-8050 but from my bit of research it appears to be a dial from a 6139-8002 and even at that the Speed Timer writing appears to be the wrong colour. Also, maybe the hands are 8002? The case does appear to be an 8050 from what I can tell. I dont really mind if it only ends up being a movement that I can tear down and service and sell on, but was wondering what some more experience folk think might be a good thing to do with it (aftermarket dial/hand options to smarten it up a bit).

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum.

A 6139-8050 isn't really a watch you should be starting with if it's in anything like reasonable condition.

I can't see anything wrong with the Speed-Timer colour but can you post the dial number so it can be checked.

Thanks....I am not really starting out, I have done maybe 20 previous watches including a Bell-Matic and feel like I am ready to had least have a pop at this one!

It hasn't arrived yet, but I will check the number when I have it.

Managed to pick the number out from the dial and yes it's a 6139-8002 Dial and the Speed-Timer has faded.

Case isn't from a 6139-8050 either so don't be surprised if the movement isn't even a 6139.

I don't know where in the world you are or where you bought it from but it's what I'd call an Indian Special
