Is there anything special I need to know about measuring heights of cannon pinions?

I am looking for a new cannon pinion for a AS 1200 and Cousins sell two different sizes for this movement: 2.22mm and 2.47mm.  The cannon pinion that I have taken off the movement has a total length of 3.2mm but this includes the leaves and the rounded tip (it's a sub-second movement so it has a closed end of the cannon pinion).

Does the 2.22 or 2.47mm measurement include these parts that aren't technically part of the pinion or is it a measurement from where the minute hand seats to the top of the leaves? Which looks about right for the 2.22mm.

Should I keep looking for a 3.2mm cannon pinion?

You may want to message Cousins as I think there's an error in their listing.

I'd expect the AS1200240H325 to be the 3.25 you need.
