Hello everybody,

I just found on Ebay a staking set in "shiny' condition, but I'm not sure what kind of set it is. I'm sure it's a Boley, but some 'punches' are not the same I have seen before (particularly on the right bottom area, most of sets I've seen keep there small pieces, and this set doesn't have those).

Any thoughts on this one?

I think it's a boley. Ask the seller for the make and if all the punches and stump are boley.

Oh, I've asked already couple days earlier, he told it's a Boley set. I just never seen sets like this on ebay.

I think $500 is too much for this, since for that price you can typically get a larger and more complete K&D set that includes tools like roller & balance staff removers. The condition of what is here looks good, but it isn't a particularly expansive set. In this condition, $350 sounds better. If it was dirtier/rustier, $300.

Be sure to filter the ebay listings by "Sold items" to find out what people have actually been willing to pay. Quite a few Boley sets of different sizes and conditions have sold within the past month.

Yes, if you're lucky, you can get it for this kind of price. But eBay tends to be more expensive, compared to (European) local sites.

I have this exaxt set and I think it's fantastic. Very solid and has all that I (!!) have needed so far.

Sure, if you can get the below, too, it would be a nice perk.

PS: @DDwatch, it is considered good manners in the forum to introduce yourself here: https://www.watchrepairtalk.com/forum/23-introduce-yourself-here/

It is helpful to mention where you live. Answers to questions like yours in this thread can be region-specific (e.g. Boley sets easier and cheaper in Europe, whereas K&D are rare around here. Vics versa for the US/Canada)

it doesn't say in your profile where you're located? Sometimes tools by brand can be region specific. So for instance you be more likely to find this in Europe. But almost anything will show up on eBay eventually. It would just be more common the fight other brands in the US.

I've got quite a few staking sets. Boley, Favourite, K and D and Boley and Leinen and I've never paid close to what is being asked for here.

Although, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, so you never know.

Top dollar for this set is £300. Better sets have sold this week for less and they were Inverto staking sets like this one
