Hi,

The first few tests with my newly acquired machine tell me that I'm going to need these, so I wanted to ask if anyone has experience of sourcing/making alternatives to the horrendously expensive originals available from ebay, HS Walsh etc.

I see that the Elma Solvex uses a 'punched plate' wavebreaker and I was wondering if this would also be effective in the square Elite jars - I don't really see any reason why not, but I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts on this.

Thanks for any input.

I got myself a pair of the original Elma wavebreakers. They definitely make a difference. However, if you run the machine at low speed and maybe for a longer time, the vortex isn't too bad and things will clean well, I think. You don't really need them for the rinsing jars (but again, only run at low speed then).

I can give you the exact measurements of the metal bits, if you want. I had wanted to build myself two extra pairs for the rinsing jars, anyway, but haven't found time for it yet (and didn't find an affordable stainless steel sheet of 0.3-0.4mm thickness).

sure.

Thickness of stainless steel (304 type or V2A, apparently): 0.35mm

Width of all the three strips: 12mm

Length of all three strips: 107mm

The upright strips are bent 90° for 12mm at the bottom to attach to the base strip, in other words, those ones are 95mm upright + 12mm horizontal = 107mm total.
