After much thought and research I ordered a Robur press along with the die set.  The dies slide into the bottom cavity nicely but it's way too difficult to insert one in the top.  The retaining ring appears to protrude quite a ways and I literally have to bend it down I guess before it will go in.  Removing is also difficult.  I've contacted Cousins and they don't seem to know anything about it and are forwarding the ticket to Robur.  I asked for a couple replacement clips although I may wind up removing this one and somehow bending it so it does not protrude as much.  I've included pictures and along with the clip you can see how it's already gouging the dies.  If anybody has had to deal with this it'd be good to know what you die, pictures would be great to compare.  Perhaps it will just bed in after I score a few more dies...

Just responded on that one.  Yes, there is definitely axial play in the unit, more so than I would have expected...

Second dodgy Robur press in as many weeks! How's the axial play?

Yea, strange.

My vintage Robur doesn't have this clip at all. Just light friction fit.

Interesting.  I'll give that a try although I'm thinking it'll fall out.  Maybe I'll just fashion a better retaining, or if the side shake is not acceptable I may consider returning it (along with the scored dies) and going with one of the Bergeon presses.

I would send it back, seems like Robur has been bought out and the quality has gone down the swanee.  It's a long time since I've used that idiom.

Yea, with that level/lack of quality, you're better off buying the Chinese tool that @VWatchie recommends in the other thread about the other dodgy Robur.

Agree.  I've told Cousins I want to return the press and die set for a refund.  Without the rebur press the die set is useless to me.

I literally just received a brand new Robur press and the accompanying die set in the mail today and am having the same exact problem. There is a huge amount of side shake, the dies are difficult to get into the top (and then once in, also still wobbles), and the dies in the bottom portion are completely loose.

Super disappointed with the quality given the price.

For the sake of cutting costs Robur are now losing business,  I say Robur or has the company sold out now to a Chinese company ? I'd sooner take my chances with a well made vintage tool. ( I wonder if the majority of America thought the same when they voted Trump back in ? )
