finding watchmakers that can actually accept servicing this watch

No problem! Just hand it over to your Orient representative, pay for the service through your nose, and wait for at least six months ☹️ Well, I haven't tried it but I'm pretty sure. Unfortunately, the same is true for many brands. The idea is to "kill" all independent repairers and steal their money.

I am absolutely thrilled to announce that I finally fixed it !!!! Only took around 2 months and several parts ordered that either didn’t fit or had other faults, a lot of trial and error, somewhere around 150€ spent on parts. The good thing is that I have a bunch of spare parts for this watch now 😄

I regulated the watch with dial up and dial down for now since it’s very late, but I believe there should not be major differences in other positions.

Dial down:

Not sure where you've been looking for the mainspring?

I was expecting you tO post your own photos but I'll have a look at the other post for the DiaFix Springs.

Edit

Presuming you mean these springs I'd take a chance on one or both of these.

Did anyone confirm which diafix springs fit orient?

@dancad should be able to confirm which was the correct one.

@DaimonYes, you can take both (main spring and diafix springs) either from the same movement or a compatible movement 46943 - from this movement you can actually use many parts: main spring, balance wheel, etc.

I would (probably) NEVER buy spare parts from CousinsUK anymore, for several reasons, but mainly the increased taxes to EU. It was also my fault that I ordered based on hope that parts will fit...and they didn't so I lost around 50euros for parts that did not fit 🙂

If I would have to go through the same troubles again, I would buy broken movements that I know they will fit and take those parts from there. Of course there is a possibility that the part you need, it's either missing (if you can't spot it from the photos) or it's broken but you can find complete movements at around 30euros on eBay.

Aliexpress have bridge plates for the 46943 and some of them appear to include the diafix springs, only cheap in the region of £3.50 each. Search for 46943 upper clamp plate.

True. The problem with Aliexpress, is shipping time from China. The bridge I ordered on 3rd of Feb. is still in transit ?! Meanwhile I fixed the watch but the part is still....somewhere on Earth.

They also have the Diafix prings if you look hard enough 'upper splint anti-shock spring'

I do not recommend this particular Chinese option. The spring is slightly smaller, so it won't sit properly.

The picture above exemplifies it. The lower spring is Chinese.

    • That’s a nice idea, But i’m committed to providing this site as a gift to the watch repair community as my thank you for my incredible life i’ve had in this business. Ive done well and unless my financial circumstances change then i’m more than happy to foot the bill. If circumstances do change then be assured that I will make an appeal. For now, I’m comfortable with the way things are and I am extremely delighted to remove Google Ads from this site and to stop Patreon, it feels like a major step forward 🙂 Sorry, I missed your reply, I got blinded by another poster in this thread. Yes - I can confirm that I have always seen WRT as a not-for-profit website, and therefore - not a business as such. I’m lucky and have done well in my life due to a decision made in my teens to start a watch repairing apprenticeship which has sustained myself and my family for many years now. Consider this my small way of paying it forward. Ive been committed to keeping the site alive on a technical and financial level for over 10 years now and I have zero plans to change that. Thank you for your kind words by the way. And as for your wish - nobody can control what happens in life, if something happens to me I have things in place with my family but I’m just not comfortable talking about my personal business - I wish a certain person would respect that, but i’ve calmed down now - i’m only human 😄
    • Yes, exactly. I've seen a few different versions, but mine has the blue water symbol, not white.    I think it's Acrylic. The case is plastic so I would the is the lens would be too.
    • Hi there Josh, welcome to the forum.
    • From the same listing, the back side: I would guess that the back pops off rather than the front. You can see a little groove there where the caseback sits over the winding stem, rather than a case tube. Look for an indent or notch around the back. It might be possible to pry this off from almost anywhere on the back if it sits right against the rubber strap. The movement looks like it is from the Ronda RL family (015 or 115 or something? I forget which numbers have a calendar and which don't)
    • I'd expect a similar notch somewhere around the rear to pop that off.
