While getting ready to re-assemble a Landeron 48, I removed a stray fiber with some rodico and noticed that a lot of the plating came off as well.20250202_212905.thumb.jpg.6d95fd8ee7e1ff01c985081016410558.jpg I've never seen that before and never had any problems with my (L&R) cleaning fluids. Would I be right to blame this on poor quality plating?

I’m currently servicing my own cal 48, and it has the same problem on the mainplate. I decided to use the most gentle cleaning solution (not the Elma 1:9 ammoniated fluid I normally use).

I guess it is either poor quality control (in an otherwise very good movement), or the movement has been cleaned too harshly in the past.
