As a newbie, can I ask for the definition of "rubbed in"? I assume it means the jewel is no longer usable but not sure the characterization of the destruction of the jewel. For example, does it mean that it is completely destroyed, badly broken, significantly broken, slightly deformity caused by missing "bits", slight wear and tear? I'm so new I don't even know how what words to describe the malfunction of the jewel in terms of the damage. Of course, it could be something entirely different! I wouldn't know!

Thanks for the link, that was most educational and extremely relevant to a jewel I'm trying to decide how to fix. Knowing what rubbed in means and the explanation in the link gives me the insight to proceed forward! Again Thank You!Ā

Honesty, this sounds a little frighting to me. Please, read all this thread from the beginning. There is a video there about replacing rubbed in jewels without using special tools.
