Hi All,

I’m after a Breitling Navitimer 80360 988.431/332 movement, I’m in the UK.

please let me know if and where I can source one.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Only chance would be the likes of eBay but as you probably already know they aren't cheap.

What's wrong with it?

Edit

Is it just the broken battery tab and missing insulator?

Hi @AndyGSi

I didn’t get a notification you replied to my comment.

The movement will not fire up after installing a new battery. Also, as you see, the contact tab could be the problem, but I’m thinking it’s more than the contact tab as I’m pretty sure it was making contact. Someone mentioned the problem could be that the  5-year-old coin battery could have leaked and corroded the movement.

I have found a movement in Switzerland but am not sure about that yet. It’s fairly cheap, actually. I’m not sure what the cost is of getting to the uk.

Do you think the movement is fixable ?

The disc should be attached to the flat bridle coming off the circuit and there should be another insulator over the top.

Without the other insulator the battery is just being shorted by the bridle.

I’m fairly sure this movement is as is apart from the round disk breaking away from the main contact, the insulator  disk of course is under the negative contact.

There's two insulators, one underneath and one on top, otherwise the bridle will short from the -ve contact to the side/+ve contact of the battery.

I’ve bought the watch new in 1992, I’m the only one that has taken the back off, possibly being that old that’s how they did it back then? I’ve never removed or touched the black insulator.
What you say makes sense.

It could have just disintegrated.

The thing now is to rig a 1.5V supply to it and see if it's worth fixing the tab and replacing the insulator.

I’ve sourced a movement, it includes the lcd etc, just no case. Pretty good price. I’ll let you know how it is when I get it.

i watched this guy, he took the movement out, at the same time he made a isolator which he said was missing. Strange?

OK but if it is just the tab and insulator then you'd be looking at a few pounds to fix.

Edit

I presume it is the 988.431 you've got not the E10.391?

Double edit

Just realised looking through my notes that it's the 988.332 you need.

The ETA 988.431/332 just refers to the circuit board which is the same across the 988.431 & 988.332 but he displays are different.

988.431

988.332 which you need.

That's the correct movement with the correct display but the top lcd line appears very feint.

Good price though so I guess you'll just have to wait and see.

Looks the same, the pad has moved over slightly but I’m transferring the movement over anyway.

What pad?

Have you tried a battery to see what the top LCD looks like before you do the swap?

It's also missing the other insulator.

It works, 2 problems though, the hands aren’t working and there’s a little lcd corruption. Looks like ill have to use the full movement including lcd.

If the hands aren't working you should be able to return it.

Did you follow the instructions how to fit the hands etc or how to synchronise the hands to the digital.

I just changed the pcb, the hands aren’t moving at all so the synchronisation process can’t be done, also the normal time is going backwards.

I’ll reassemble the new movement and check the time behaviour.

@AndyGSiUpdate… watch is up and running, no issues.

I reassembled the new movement and installed new movement in watch case.
All is good, I’ll remove the battery if it’s lightly that I’m not going to use the watch for a while, so much pollution/corrosion in the watch from the coin battery leaking.
thanks
