When pushing in the crown on this Seiko 6619, the setting lever slightly pops up, holding the crown in against the case and not allowing the spring force to push it back. A slight pull on the crown allows the setting lever to fall back into the notch on the stem, and the crown pops back out.

Due to the fact that the date often fails to cycle on this movement, I'm presuming this is not intended function and something is wrong. If so, any advice on what part to inspect? I can't see any visible wear on any of the components, but also don't quite know what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

Here is a link to a video showing the issue:

I'm not familiar with 6619, is it supposed to snap like that when you push the crown? 6119 stays in and slides back when you release. Are all the keyless parts assembled? I mean if there's supposed to be a plate or something that prevents vertical shifting.

There are no more securing parts - this behavior continues when fully assembled. I am guessing this is supposed to function like the 6119, I can't see any practical reason to behave like it is.

How do these parts look from the underside? Some tab that's pushing something? Are they worn or do the parts bend and lose contact?

I think I've identified the problem - I missed it on my first inspection but the setting lever has some wear that has caused it to slope, leading it to push up and away from the stem causing the issue. I'll need to replace it I think.
