I figured I should actually post my tool builds here. I like making tools almost as much as I like watchmaking. I'll post new tools I make below and label them.

First up, my cleaning machine. You can see my other post on it.

Next up. Some parts I make for the cleaning machine. Baskets and such.

Then I made a toolpost grinder setup for my flex tool. This will be used for precision grinding, and also for wheel and pinion cutting.

Then we have the lapping table for the lathe. The is a simple build.

Next is a 2 axis polishing vise.

I'll add more later on

Wow my formatting was no good on the last post. Anyways, here is the latest build. A dividing plate for my lathe. I will print this part shortly, but I need to verify some measurements on my lathe before I do. My CAD software did not love me when I was doing this. Its a fairly easy part to design, just using polar patterns. So far I have settled on the following indexes: 80, 78, 75, 70, 65, 60, 56, 54, & 48. Trying to capture the largest amount of divisions I could. But I can always print another one.

Here's an update to some tools. I have printed the index plate, but I haven't mounted it yet. It turned out well and I think it'll work just fine. I also uploaded a video to my YouTube channel showing my lapping setup

Good stuff, thanks for showing the lapping machine setup, I've been following your posts and was wondering what it would look like in action. I'd love to have a similar setup but I fear making one would be beyond my abilities. I'm going to be attending the AWCI case polishing course this October, so baby steps for me 🙂

BTW, if you haven't seen it, Adam Savage used a similar (same?) sewing machine motor for his watchmakers lathe and he showed how he flipped the case so the LED readout was right way up and he also built a knob to better control the speed.

Ill have to check that video out. When I initially added the toggle switch for turning the device on, I didn't see a quick and easy way to flip the display. A knob would be handy, I wonder if he can change it while its running. I also need to devise a brake system for the lapping vise. It takes off like a rocket! Given my napkin math, the caseback could be spinning at 10,500 RPMs when I was using it on the buffing wheel.

175 RPS, wow and ouch if it came free.

No kidding. I disassembled it and slathered it in locktite after that.

I was finally able to located a cross slide for my lathe, and boy is it special. It has a detent for 0°, then it can be compound on both the X and Y slides. I've never seen this setup before.
