Any suggestions as to how I fix this, or rig it so it works?

It's an old pocket watch movement, an AS 593 I think (which I can't find much information on let alone parts). I got it from ebay and have cleaned and rebuilt it and got it running ok, except it won't wind properly because the click is broken - the little post on the underside that hits the spring has worn away.

I don't have a suitably sized spare, and can't find a replacement part. What should I do?

Thanks. You’re right - I have the screw and the spring is in place under the ratchet wheel. The post on the click that the spring pushes against is worn or broken - I can see where it’s been.

Drilling is beyond my toolset right now. Any recommendations as to what I could buy to be able to do this sort of thing? A small bench drill, decent set of bits, and perhaps a staking set to punch in the new rod? And some steel rods of course.

All would be great and handy for future use. If you can't afford them, a rotary tool should suffice.

Keeping tooling and expense to a minimum you could go old school

pin vice or archimedes drill

micro carbide drill

cutting broach, optional

good quality watchmaking files
