Oil Breguet Spring in Self Winding Bulova 11AFAC?

Recommended Posts

Does the Breguet spring (326) get oiled where it interfaces with the reversing gear pinions (317C)?

I put some D5 there and was wondering, should I reclean those parts to remove it?

I couldn't find 11AFAC documentation, but here's 11AOAC for reference: https://myretrowatches.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Bulova-11-AOAC-D-B.pdf

Please see the attached photos I took before cleaning.

Lacking a tech sheet saying otherwise I'd definitely lubricate these, D5, 9020, HP1000 or 1300, for sure. I'd epilame them too but don't think it's critical.

Edit- I'd oil the Breguet teeth too.

I believe Bulova had the same lubrication recommendations for their movements that used these tension springs that hold the 'clutch wheels' (reversing wheels), which was to lubricate the pivot bearings of those wheels with an HP1300 equivalent and the teeth of the clutch wheels with a 9501/4 grease equivalent but no lubrication on the surface of the springs.
