Hey everyone! Longtime lurker but first time poster. I've run into an assembly issue with a citizen 3510 quartz movement and can't for the life of me remember where the part goes. The technical manual makes no mention of the part in the pictures. It's called the "third wheel holder". When I took pictures during disassembly I just happened to forget that one. Any ideas where it goes?

I circled the location where I believe it went but it just doesn't feel or look right. I remember struggling to get the part off of a post but not exactly where. I was only able to find reference to the part in the 3411 manual.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as it's the only thing holding me back from returning my friends heirloom.

That looks like a hacking lever. It should be somehow linked to the setting lever. The long arm should touch the 3rd wheel to stop the second hand when the watch stem is pulled out to the time setting position.

It does look like a hacking lever but it's sole purpose from my understanding is to hold the 3rd wheel. I've tried multiple locations to see if I could get it to act like a hacking lever with no luck.

It looks like there's only one way it would fit on that boss and make contact with the third wheel.

Can you post a photo as it's shown on top of the movement but on the boss.

Where does the second rotor go?

Just realised think you're about 90deg out from where you need to be.

Where does the train wheel bridge sit?

Here's an image with my bad hand drawings of your questions. Green is where the second rotor goes, yellow is the center wheel cock and on top of that in blue is the train wheel bridge. I've also attached the technical manual for it that shows each of these in detal.

So looking at this it fits under the right hand screw of the train wheel bridge.

It upside down how it's lying in your picture and more noticeably on closer inspection broken.

No here. Also just realised there's am individual photo in the original post showing it clearly broken.

I'm almost certain that you are correct, so where is the missing part?

That is a good question because there was no broke part during disassembly. Let me put it under the scope for a better look.

Something like this.

That was my exact thought too but the edge of the holder kept touching the minute wheel. Will give it a shot and take photos. Also going to look at the holder under a scope and see if it is broken. If so I have absolutely not idea where the broken piece is.

Owner said they took it to a citizen store to attempt a fix and they told him it's unfixable. I've taken it apart and tested all electrical connections and it runs fine minus that part. Wonder if previous watchmaker broke it or it was already broken somehow.

You can tell from this that's it's way too short compared to the part that sits on the 3rd wheel and is broken just after the bulge.

Edit

The part that sits on the 3rd wheel also looks like it's on the brink of failure.

So if its broken it is one of the cleanest breaks I've ever seen. Apparently there was two different parts made. One for hacking in the citizen 3411 (903-126) and another one for the 35** series (903-128 and 126). There is a possibility i think that they made this one without the hacking feature thus the extended holder into the second rotor. I'm trying to find pictures of the two parts. The document reference above is from the 3411 manual and is the only place i could find reference to the third wheel holder.

Just checked through my old paper stock records and it looks like I should
have one somewhere but I've got it listed as an alarm buzzer contact spring?

Yeah, when I search for it as well on supply sites it comes back the same. JB has the correct name though. Definitely some confusion.

Well I'll be...interesting indeed. You just made my day as I can now get this watch back together and in the hands of a friend. Thank you so much for looking into this for me, I greatly appreciate it!
