Red flag phone call - "A friend has given me an Omega but he said he wasn't sure it was genuine. Can you refit the winder which has fallen off " I explained it will certainly need a service and I don't just fit new crowns to an unknown condition watch. It arrived and felt too light. I attach the photo's to give us a laugh. I'm guessing $25 from a Turkish market via Guangzhou .

At least it has an actual mechanical movement - Seagull ST6 series, possibly?

Very unlike this object a friend from Malaysia gave me some years back. (He initially showed me his & tried to convince me it was genuine! - It weighs a fraction of what a real one should, never mind other details).

Even the quartz movement looks to be a cut-price version with a fixed capacitor where the trimmer cap should be.

Thats all you're getting...the dial...any more is too much information...you can have one more dial shot as the inclusion at 2 oclick is misleading.  Quiz day ...lets have half a dozen guesses in then I'll give you the answer.

I'm guessing it's a replica - the hands look wrong & the strap links appear to be solid rather than the separate link sections in the genuine ones. (based on google images of that model).

So looking at other examples but not knowing the full details the biggest things that
stand out to me are the stuck on logos, plain dial and position of the date window.

The 8800 is fitted in a plain black Omega dial, not all seamasters have the  waved dial.

I've never seem a seamaster with that arrangement of text and a plain dial?.

Lume pip looks funny, no silver ring. Could be the photos.

Date wheel print looks opaque.

Its probably real? Lol

Look more closely at it now.

Can you see the silver ring now  ?

There has been so many variations of the seamaster including non waved dials. Here is the exact model in blue with just one variation of the hour hand.

Yea I see the silver ring now.

The small indices stretch too far to the outside of the dial and the hour markers are uneven at 12 O'clock?

Ok lets have a closer look, that might just be the angle of the shot.

You think the right one looks too long?

It looks pretty good to me but I’m no expert

only thing that looks different from photos online that I pick up is the triangle of the bezel lume pip looks different

They look crooked and 6 O'clock looks off too. Its probably the angle/pixles.

You've sold me. I'll give you $900 😁

I'm not sure as there's so many variations with this model.

I'm erring on the side of real, but I'd have to hold it and have the back off before I buy it 🤣

That's one thing I spotted, most are hollow triangles, but then I found a solid one.

Real - because why would Rich stake his reputation on a superfake. I think he is just trolling you all to show off his Seamaster.

So is this supposed to be the 210.30.42.20.10.001 or 210.30.41.20.10.001?

image.thumb.png.daf6f10b895c236ada3f0b24dd093ad5.png

Edit

Just realised that it's 212.30.41.20.03.001

Date window, pip on bezel and strap would still put me off even without seeing the back.

Well done chaps, yes my reputation is tarnished, i feel quite ashamed, but then i didn't buy it.  The missus knew my standing to never give my money to Swatch, but not my ethics on supporting a superfake watch industry. I didn't have the heart to ask her to take it back, she won't even tell me how much it was. Its not a cheap fake , middle of the road I'd say.  I googled  the shop, its been established 25 years with a high reputation......in fakes 🤦‍♂️

Even if they tried to replicate an Omega movement, the co-axial escapement would be very hard to replicate, like the free sprung balances on Rolex.
