Hello!

New to the pocket watch repair world.

Bought an 18s 17j Elgin 226 model 3 pocket watch, non running.

Unit wants to run, but after some seconds running, it stops.

Seems someone replaced the mainspring, since it looks new and super clean, and provides power when winded.

Gear train (no pallet fork installed) runs beautifully; as soon as pallet fork is on, unit locks up and balance wheel stops going clockwise.

Pivot points look good under the loupe, and so do the jewels, but again, I am no expert.

Unit was cleaned, and slowly and carefully assembled with pics taken before disassembly for reference purposes.

Any adjustments recommended for the pallet fork?

Thanks!

Jorge

OK, the watch tried to tick before the disassembly, yes? And, now the balance doesn't turn clockwise... (only the other direction?). Are You sure the impulse jewel didn't miss the fork slot when You installed the balance? Without the balance, does the pallet fork snap to both directions as it should when moved from the banking pins?

Where is the impulse jewel?

Edit

Thought the impulse jewel was flat and snapped off but realised now it's their.
