Hello everyone, I’m new here and am new to fixing watches. I just bought this watch and unfortunately it is not working properly.

It seems to tick just fine but when I adjust the time forwards, the hour hand won’t go past a certain spot. If I adjust the time backwards, it will go past that problem spot with no issues. Unfortunately it won’t let me post a video here so I’ve included a screenshot even though it probably won’t help much.

I suspect that maybe that our hands not see it properly? Or perhaps there’s something going on inside? I’m not exactly sure but I would like to get some feedback before I start opening things if possible. It is not worth it for me to go to a watch repair shop as I would like to eventually learn how to do these things myself.

Thank you in advance!

Keevo,

Welcome to the group !
I'm thinking that you have some damage to the hour, and/ or minute wheel.

Possibly just a bent, otherwise damaged, or missing tooth.

Your photo didn't post that I can see.

I think you'll have to open it to start really finding the issue.

Best,

Randy

This can be due several things. The most simple is the dial not touching the movement (there is a gap between them), which allows the minute wheel to go up enough and disengage from the cannon pinion or hour wheel itself. Too tight canon pinion is something that makes this happen easier.

I presume when goes past the problem spot, the  seconds hand goes round the dial only once but get stuck at that point again.

This can  support   neven's  point, dial not keeping the hour wheel down in place, and is there a dial washer or its missing the washer.

Needs a bit of clarification, runs fine even when seconds hand stops.

A picture of the watch doesn't help to spot the fault, ones that shows suspect spots does.

I assume its  a mechanical movement, yet need clarification to be sure.
