This one’s an oldie

I think Dutch, but I may be mistaken.

I have it on the floor, but it’s a wall clock. This is the first time I’ve seen this arrangement on the hour hand.

It certainly is a Dutch clock. How many bells has it got because proper dutch striking should have two. Looking at the hands its an alarm. Do you have the hood if so can I see it please, at the moment I don't know if it's Frisian, if so it should have a pendulum with a long tail and 3 ornaments on top.

It only has one bell on the top of the movement for striking the hour.  There are three ornaments for the top of the hood, although I left them with the customer.

It does look as though there used to be another hammer though.  There are some unused holes and components as shown in the pics.  Maybe its been removed during its lifetime.

It does indeed have a long pendulum and tail, and a sliding cover that hides the pendulum.

Very similar to this one, although the one I have here only has the main going weight. The one in the picture has another smaller weight, presumably to drive an alarm function?

That is what I was expecting to see regarding ornaments it's Atlas carrying the globe and two  Pheme Goddess at sides. Dutch striking is a hammer striking one of the bells on the hour and another hammer striking another bell on the half hour being a different tone. It certainly look as if parts are missing, be careful as many of these clocks are not as old as you think.

Thanks OH.  I'm servicing it, rather than buying, so it is what it is.  Interesting clock though.

    • With these battery clips , what I do is with a finger cot on cover the coil and release the clip that way if you slip you finger guards the coil,  If you use the hole in the clip to hold the tweezers/probe all is ok. I think more coils are damaged by removing the snap backs without due care and clipping the coil, whick always seems to bl located at the pry point.
    • The terminal curve of your hairspring might be distorted. If the curve is perfect, the hairspring should remain in the centre if the gap of the regulator pins when the regulator arm is moved along the entire curve. And adjusting the rate should not affect the beat error. However, reshaping the terminal curve is not easy stuff. Maybe at this beginner's level, getting the watch running is already a commendable achievement.
    • Not that kind of backup.  We're talking about a continuity plan if this platform is abandoned or withdrawn.
    • Hello and welcome to the WRT forum.
    • my understanding is message boards don't really use much space at all if they're basically just text. as why their websites out there that will give you free message boards of course they control the advertising but they're just text based I thought the message board already was backed up in fact was backed up multiple times? One of the things that is a real killer for message boards is file attachments. As people get faster computers they think nothing of attaching big files. Then we get a lot of big files reattached multiple times a somebody new post the question we will post things again and again and I mentioned there's a heck of a lot of file duplication it be nice to figure out some place to put all the files and not have them on the message board at all. then? The last time I checked Facebook maybe I wasn't paying attention to something? So I just now checked his Facebook watch repair group he was last seen on the 14th and I just don't remember this picture? Maybe could that be what's distracting him?  although he is on the Facebook group may be just doesn't like us anymore?
