Long time lurker, rarely post.  Just completed service on Landeron 48. Pegged, cleaned in L&R, oiled, new MS, etc.....  Was running great (although still needed very minor adjustment).  Had to have an Xray on my hip the other day. I did inquire about magnetic field from machine. No worries I was told..... Anyway now this thing has picked up about 15 min per hour fast.  I have demag. 3 times, last time with caseback removed so I could set bare movment on tool.....  I see the 2 outer coils of the HS touching.  So it's either magged or possibly some oil migrated to where it shouldn't have.  Although I oil very sparingly...... If less is more, than even less is my approach....  Any thoughts on where I need to proceed from here???   Obviously I gotta pull the balance and clean or love on the HS..thoughts anyone..?????

Thanks!!

John

The MS used was a Magistral Super labeled Landeron 48 and 3530 1.35 .145 380 12

Initially it looked really good on the TG. I use a Weishi 1900.  I  did change lift angle to 42 and set rate to 18000.  Next problem is the Weishi is flaking out.  Still under warranty until late June.  IF I COULD FIGURE OUT HOW TO FILE A CLAIM!!!  Transducer is flakey!!!

Yes the balance is coming out tonight to see what is up with HS.  Just strange that it started right after the x-rays....

This is my favorite vintage piece.  Baume&Mercier 18k chronograph  Suisse.......

Thanks for the input!!! Anybody know how to warranty out a Weishi?? Prob start a seperate thread..... May have answer on HS within the hour!!

Thx!!!

JW

I pulled the balance.  Strangely enough, the coils were no longer touching.  Cleaned HS and re-oiled cock jewel. Did correct a small error between stud and curb pins.  Everything now looks great..... Although I don't trust the Weishi at this point.... Amp highest was 286.....trace looked good..... made minor timing adjustment,  and well see how she goes!!! Thanks to all for the input!!!

Sometimes there can be residue on the coils that can still make them stick under the right circumstances, like getting magnetized to the point they come in solid contact. Pulling the cock and balance gets the coils apart, and then if they gently touch it's not sufficient to get them to stick.

Also, sometimes things get magnetized to the point you have to demag components individually, in particular the balance/spring assembly. Wrap the balance with spring gently in tissue paper before demagnetizing off the cock; not doing so will almost definitely cause at least a tangled hairspring.
