Stripped Crown Wheel Screw Hole - Bulova 11ACAC

Recommended Posts

What options do I have?

This is more of a practice movement, since there are other issues as well. I'm open to options that might not be acceptable to a customer.

Threads on the screw look good.

I have JB Weld and Loctite 242.

Outside diameter of the screw threads is about 0.7mm.

I also have a 125W soldering iron and a small butane torch. Though I currently only have solder for electronics, it looks like I would need silver solder for something like this

Welcome to,  the forum, enjoy.. I suspect the thread is a reverse thread hence it has been stripped by tightening the screw not undoing the the screw.. The only way to fix this IMO is to find a donor movement I’m eBay.

You're correct that it's reverse threaded. I've disassembled another of this same movement before that wasn't stripped. When this one felt gummy in both directions, I knew there was an issue.

I appreciate all the suggestions. I'll keep an eye out for a donor movement. I might try the tinfoil idea out of curiosity to see how well it works.
