Yes, I would normally insert a new spring from the washer, but on occasion it goes boing. When using the winder to reinstall, I find that if I'm using a narrower spring, putting a spacer in the slot under the plate allows me to manage the winding and subsequent removal more easily... With the metal posts - I thought the damaged ones were pressed out and new ones pressed in - I didn't think that they had to be manufactured. Hence my asking where to acquire some from. If that is the case I'll have to source a replacement Main Plate. -
Hello, My name is Alexis and I am new to the hobby of watch repair. I started it just 2 months ago by chance -I was forced to stay in my house, unwillingly...- and I found its multi-faceted aspect and the attention it requires very appealing, a kind of meditational state for a tinkerer... For the time being I just play around with 2-3 old watches trying to learn the very basics and to collect the necessary equipment. This forum appeared repeatedly in my related searches, giving me all the time valuable information. I am very happy to be part of this community. Thank you!
