I have a Victorinox "Aerospace" with the ETA 988.333 movement. It works fine except it eats a battery in 2 weeks. It starts flashing the digital display indicating low power.

I've used Energizer and Renata batteries (both die), I've checked the 2 insulators under the battery (present), and I've tried putting parchment paper under the case back and another piece under the "tab" that is supposed to touch the speaker, thinking maybe it was touching something and draining.

I have no other bright ideas. I bought the watch used and it's done this since I've owned it.

Is there something I should be checking?

Welcome to the forum.

What batteries are you using?

Edit

I mean SR920W or SR920SW, presuming you're using silver oxide?

Thanks!

They are Renata 371/SR920SW or Energizer 371/370, both Silver Oxide. Fairly standard ones I’ve used in other watches.

Extra drain on the battery due to needing a service.....friction

I wondered about friction due to age…but I’ve got a Seiko from 1971 that has never been serviced and it’s fine. This watch is much younger, and doesn’t even have a ticking seconds hand.

I know they say the SR920SW is the correct battery but I always go for the SR920W on anything digital.

How is it for keeping time?

It keeps good time and everything functions. The alarm is super quiet which was a complaint when it was first released, but otherwise it’s fine.

I ordered some 920W to try.
