Morning all~

Here is pic of my most ancient watch, still runs but I don't wind it up, because those wheels are fragile, (I have been told). No prize, but any guesses on mfg or date?

What a clean old movement, do you have the missing click spring? The saw tooth crown wheel is most unusual. I would guess it dates from about 1900 or thereabouts.

okay with all the search possibilities available today:\

http://www.awco.org/otherhigh/newyork/Springfield/Springfield.htm

New York Watch company, 19j, 18S, mfg around 1866, mine has a Hampden dial literally screwed on front which I am proud to say I did not do, I have searched for cases, but was told by more knowledgeable person that the NY movements were not "standard" size 18 and probably would not fit in case without modification. You will note the s/n on awco site is 1022, and from the description, was sort of frankened together, mine is 293, near as I can tell is all original, certainly the pride of the fleet!

My oldest watch 257 years old and dates from 1759. George II was on the throne and John Harrison was developing his marine chronometer H4. Sometimes I look and wish it could talk instead of tick!

Thanks so much Geo.  I have several with the Fleur-de-Lys style hands, but all of them are on my earlier Elgins. I just checked and all are on B W Raymond movements.  Don't know if that's a coincidence or by design.
