Hi all

I'm Bill from Mandurah, Western Australia.  I stumbled into this forum while looking for information on how to dismantle and rebuild a LONGINES La Grande watch (ladies variety).

What luck!  This is a great site, with such a friendly bunch of members, all willing to share their knowledge of this fascinating hobby.

I've always been interested in fixing things - cars, boats, houses etc. plus I've always liked watches and clocks.  So, whilst I'm a rank novice I'm very keen to learn.

At the moment I'm getting together a few tools and plan to work on quartz watches while I learn the basics, then hopefully progress to mechanical watches in the future.

Cheers for now

Great introduction, welcome aboard Bill.

Like you I just love making and fixing things. I only started this game about two and a half years ago and with help from Mark's videos in particular I have managed to progress quite quickly.

The forum is certainly a gem of a find, especially now that I am retired and have the time to blether on it.

Hi Bill - and a welcome from me too. I just dabble in watch tinkering - I'm more of a collector and researcher - but this forum is a good place to be. Have fun!

Welcome Bill,

Watches are a fascinating hobby, although it can be trying as well if you've just lost a small part, happens to everyone. There should be someone on here able to answer any questions you might have and as they say, practice makes perfect.
