So my mom pulls me aside and asked if I could fix my dad's watch that I broke when I was about 4 years old..... Some 36 years ago. It winds and ticks but is all over the place on the timegrapher. Anywhere I could find the tech docs on Jules Jorgensen?

Also my mom hands me my grandfather's watch..... I was floored. It hasn't been worn in 40+ years.

I would imagine the Jorgensen is a regular Swiss movement and should have a movement number on it somewhere, possibly under the balance, a picture might help the more knowledgeable identify it, If nothing is broken a clean and oil should put it right.

The Bulova is very nice and worth putting back into 1st. class condition.

My heart stopped when I saw the Bulova-  it is pretty but doesn't wind or tick with the crown being stuck.  It comes apart with the face attached to the back- gonna have to dig around on how to's for that.  No real hurry on that one but my Mom thought it would be nice to give the Jules back fixed for Father's day as a gift.  That gives me just over 3 weeks to finish.  I imagine I'll have lots of questions when I can really sit down with this/these watches.

Looks like the Jules is gonna have to come out the front as it has a solid back no seem.  Just ordered a the replacement crystal last night- so I'm now not wanting to go away for the long weekend now ;(

Thanks for looking guys,

Dan B.

"Finished" the Jules tonight while listening to the Blackhawks lose in overtime :growl: .   Finished is in quotes because I'm waiting for the replacement crystal to come via mail-  seems I have no idea how to measure and the two I ordered where just a hair too large!

Will post a pic once Google syncs with my cell phone.    I went from unrecognizable rate and Beat error on the timegrapher to -6 s/d and error of 0.5ms average over 6 positions- very happy with that.

Time for a beer!

Not very good at remembering to take pix along the way- but getting better!

It's a great feeling when you you finish a project, that's four very well well deserved beers Dan. You've done a great job, and the movement. Is looking good. You'll be looking forward to starting your next one now.

Be careful, like beer it can be addictive!!

Drink beer, not water!! :-)

Well done Dan it looks a lovely watch. Just a matter of interest I was reading about the history of Bulova.

Bulova were a very forward thinking company and were the first watch company to build watches on a production line much the same as Henry Ford did with cars.
