I'm a little upset because my camera lens is buggered. Apparently it is a common fault with these canon 17-85mm zoom lenses, the internal wire (ribbon cable) gets somehow damaged and needs replacing.

 

Thought I would put my watch repair skill to use in a different way, I mean, how difficult can it be?? :s

 

Ok - so I got the new part through today - wish me luck, I need it for my video making!

Yes - and it was only £10.

 

And I fixed it! Yay!!! :)

Nice pictures and great job Mark, I just saw this thread and by the looks of the ribbon cable I thought: "This is going to be quite a nightmare to route properly without breaking." Very steady hands Mark! Hats off!

I like a man who can turn his hand to most things,  well done,  a nice camera saved from the bin.

 

An interesting thought is that the whole of modern civilization hangs on this sort of technology,  anyone who can invent a raygun to wipe hard drives would have the power to put us back in the stone age in a week.
